Mallika Mahalingam

Mallika Mahalingam, MPH is a Deputy Director with Aurrera Health Group’s Medicaid Policy & Programs team. She works closely with clients from the California Department of Health Care Services on the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) initiative. Mallika leads development on policy analysis and implementation, communications and outreach, project management, and stakeholder engagement on projects related to long-term services and supports. 

During her time at Aurrera, she has also worked on clinical implementation and grantee training development to educate Medi-Cal providers on screening for Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and responding with trauma-informed care.

Prior to joining Aurrera Health Group, Mallika worked as a Fellow with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in their Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention. In this role, she contributed to projects in policy research, health communications, and research translation in relation to cardiovascular disease prevention and management. Mallika also supported the agency’s COVID-19 response as a Health Communications Specialist by providing assistance with developing and implementing community mitigation strategies. Additionally, Mallika worked as a Health Economics Fellow in the Division of Injury Prevention on projects related to unintentional injuries and adverse childhood experiences.

Previously, Mallika worked in HIV & AIDS research both as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health and as an intern with the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Sparkman Center for Global Health. She also worked with a team of health professional students to develop health policy recommendations for the Stacy Abrams Campaign for Georgia.

Mallika holds a master’s degree in public health with a concentration in health policy from Emory University and a bachelor’s degree in public health & biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She lives in Sacramento, California and in her free time, she enjoys baking and cooking, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
