Deputy Director
Catherine Gekas Steeby serves as a Deputy Director of Medicaid Policy & Programs at Aurrera Health Group. She primarily supports clients in implementing major health care transformation initiatives and addressing social needs through Medicaid.
Prior to joining Aurrera Health Group, Catherine served as the longtime Administrator for Policy, Eligibility Program Accuracy, and Communications for Nebraska’s Medicaid program at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. She oversaw the implementation of several projects including the Affordable Care Act, adult expansion group, and CHIP unborn coverage. In her role, Catherine directed the development of all regulations, policies, and state plans and oversaw all eligibility related audits. She also led communications for the division, including stakeholder engagement, tribal consultation, and internal communications.
Catherine holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Doane University. She lives in Lincoln, Nebraska with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoys watching her kids play sports, hanging out with her husband and friends (preferably by the pool), and cheering on the Huskers.
