Time for Change: We are Matching $10,000 to Support Racial Justice

At Aurrera Health Group, we have a new name but the same mission-driven approach to our work. That mission – to advance access to affordable, comprehensive, high-quality health care – by definition includes supporting efforts to promote systemic changes that recognize and address racial injustice and inequity.Like many organizations and individuals, we have been reflecting on this important moment. We know that police violence and systemic racism are social determinants of health that disproportionately impact BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color). We want to be clear that our organization supports Black Lives Matter. And while Aurrera Health Group is proud of the work that we do with our clients that helps reduce health inequities, we have been thinking about ways we can serve in this particular moment. If there’s one thing we know at Aurrera Health Group, it’s that policy change happens through passion, hard work, and leadership. It’s about placing our values front-and-center in the projects that we pursue and the work that we do – from making sure that people have the microphone in meetings, to ensuring that the language that is used does not exclude certain communities, to working to direct resources to the right places.Along those lines, one immediate action we are taking is matching up to $10,000 in donations to three organizations that our team selected based on their leadership and empowerment of communities:

  • Campaign Zero is a national organization that provides analysis of policing practices across the country; research to identify effective solutions to end police violence; technical assistance to organizers leading police accountability campaigns; and development of model legislation and advocacy efforts to end police violence.

  • Roots Community Birth Center was born out of a vision to make out-of-hospital birth accessible and welcoming. The space was created to make families feel comfortable, welcomed, at ease, and at home. Roots invests in the community, serves the next generation of mothers and families, and creates access to quality midwifery care throughout the northwest metro area of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Roots was temporarily displaced from their facility due to the events that took place in Minneapolis. Please direct your donation to Project Mother Path (Venmo: @ProjectMotherPath) and note Roots Community Birth Center in your donation.

  • NorCal Resist is a Northern California grassroots movement that organizes community members to build infrastructure against oppression and empowers them through shared resources and support. NorCal Resist works to make a positive impact in communities while fighting injustice by hosting educational events, trainings and organizing actions. The organization also maintains a variety of programs that provide support to all who need it, such as free brake light clinics and community fix-it events.

To double our collective impact, make a contribution to one of these three organizations, send a copy of your donation receipt to info@aurrerahealth.com and we will send you notice when we match your gift.Thank you for your support.
